Second VLN round cancelled by the… snow

13 April 2019

The 44th DMV 4-hour Race, second round of the VLN series on the Nürburgring Nordschleife was stopped for good at the end of the first lap by a snowfall.
The Hyundai i30 N of Peter Terting and Harald Proczyk had set pole position for the TCR class in the morning qualifying, with a lap of 8:39.341 that was worth the 27th position on the grid. The second best placed TCR car was the Max Kruse Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI of Andreas Gülden and Benjamin Leuchter, 35th overall with the time of 8:45.105.
At the end of the first lap, when the red flag was waved, Proczyk was leading the class by a six-second margin over Moritz Oestreich in the Hyundai Veloster N he was sharing with Nico Verdonck.
Further back followed Gülden, Tiago Monteiro in the Fugel Motorsport Honda Civic and Heiko Hammel in the Mathilda Racing CUPRA that had won the previous round of the series.
The VLN’s third round will be the 4-hour 61st ADAC ACAS H&R Cup on 27 April.
