Second pole position for Eric Scalvini at the Red Bull Ring

Following his fastest time in Qualifying 1 and his maiden ADAC TCR Germany victory in Race 1, Eric Scalvini continued his dominance of the Red Bull Ring event by going fastest in Qualifying 2 and so will start the weekend’s second race from pole position. Alongside the Wimmer Werk Motorsport CUPRA on the grid will be the Team ADAC Sachsen Honda Civic Type R of Dominik Fugel, with the Team Engstler Hyundai i30 N of Luca Engstler starting from P3.
In dry, sunny conditions, the twenty-minute session saw Patrick Sing (1:39.525) and Albert Legutko (1:39.833) as the first drivers to set competitive lap times, but the session was red-flagged after around six minutes when the CUPRA of Christian Voithofer went into the gravel at Turn 6. 
When the session resumed, the lap times began to tumble. First, Dominik and Marcel Fugel went quickest, but Scalvini (1:37.095), Engstler (1:37.224) and Nico Gruber (1:37.964) all quickly beat the two brothers, with the Audi RS 3 LMS of Sandro Soubek briefly in the top three with a best lap of 1:37.284.
With around five minutes remaining, Philipp Regensperger went P2 in the Lubner Motorsport Opel Astra, but the final few minutes of the session saw the most frantic action. The Fugel brothers again went first and second quickest – Dominik with a 1:36.737 and Marcel with a 1:37.050 – but Scalvini immediately struck back with a lap of 1:36.424 that was enough to give him his second pole position of the weekend. Engstler then posted a time of 1:36.806 which meant he will start Race 2 from the second row of the grid alongside Marcel Fugel. 
Regensperger qualified fifth in his Opel Astra ahead of René Kircher’s Volkswagen Golf GTI and Soubek’s Audi, making six different brands in the top seven, all covered by seven tenths of a second.
