The Hyundai i30 N cars continued to show off, filling the front row of the starting grid for tomorrow’s Race 1 in the TCR Italy season opener at Imola.
Eric Scalvini claimed pole position in the BRC Racing Team machine with a time of 1:52.010, beating the reigning champion Nicola Baldan of Pit Lane Competizioni who had posted a provisional fastest lap of 1:52.359.
Halfway through the 30-minute session, the timesheet was topped by the Alfa Romeo Giulietta of V-Action Racing driven by Luigi Ferrara with the time of 1:52.684. However, Ferrara pitted with a broken suspension after a contact with another car and was not able to rejoin.
Baldan was the first one to oust Ferrara from the top, then Scalvini moved up to second with a lap of 1:52.529. He was later able to improve further and claim the pole position.
Marco Pellegrini qualified fourth in the Target Competition Honda Civic FK2 (1:52.835), followed by Plamen Kralev’s Audi RS3 LMS (1:52.908), the other Audi of Enrico Bettera (1:53.227) and the Cupra of Salvatore Tavano (1:53.249).
