Thai driver Munkong Sathienthirakul will make his maiden appearance in the TCR Europe Series this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, at the wheel of a Cupra TCR run by Monlau Competición.
The Spanish team has a long-standing and successful experience with TCR cars, having claimed brilliant results, especially in long distance races.
Sathienthirakul is currently competing in the Super 2000 class of the Thailand Super Series, a category in which he was crowned champion in 2015 and finished as runner up three times in 2014, 2016 and 2017. He has already driven TCR cars on many occasions, claiming one race victory in the 2015 TCR Thailand and making a few appearances in the TCR International Series.
Team manager David Simón said: “We are working flat to arrive well prepared, as we are aiming for reaching the best possible result. We have a very good feeling for this participation in the next races.”
Sathienthirakul said: “I am very pleased for having the opportunity to join the TCR Europe. I am happy with the way the team prepares the car and I think we will be very competitive in the races.”
Sathienthirakul and Monlau Competición are also expected to take part in two other TCR Europe events at Assen and Barcelona.
