Veteran Ryan Eversley turned in a sparkling performance at Portland International Raceway in winning the pole position for today’s 40-minute TCR race in the 58th annual Rose Cup Races featuring the Pirelli World Challenge.
Currently TCR points leader Eversley piloted his RealTime Racing Honda Civic Type-R TCR race car to a stellar lap of 1:18.342 to start from the top spot Round 7. It only took three laps for Eversley to claim the TCR pole Friday.
“I love coming to Portland,” said Eversley, a two-time 2018 race winner in TCR. “It is a great venue to show off the very cool TCR race cars. I love driving this Honda Civic TCR and the car was great right out of the trailer today. We made a couple of minor adjustments and the car was fast, taking the pole. We had a great qualifying run in this morning’s practice and this one felt similar. So, I thought I had a good machine for this afternoon. Now it’s on to the race and these Hyundai cars will be tough again Saturday.”
Marc Wilkins, in the #99 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai i30 N, secured the other front row position for Saturday’s TCR event with a time of 1:18.636 followed by his teammate Michael Lewis, in the #98 at 1:18.736 in the third starting slot.
The Murillo Racing Audi RS3 LMS sedan of Matt Fassnacht recorded the fourth quickest time at 1:18.863 with former GT SprintX and GTS champion Michael Cooper fifth in the second RealTime Racing Honda Civic Type-R at 1:19.210.
The first race will start today at 2:25pm local time (23:25 CET); live streaming at www.tcr-series.tv.
