The 2023 TCR South America hit the track yesterday for the first time with a 75-minute official test at Córdoba’s Autódromo Oscar Cabalén, when the drivers had a first taste of the new Kumho tyres.
Juan Ángel Rosso set the fastest lap of 1:34.348 in the Paladini Racing Toyota Corolla GRS, beating by 0.13 seconds the pair of W2 Pro GP CUPRA Leon Competición cars of Raphael Reis and Galid Osman who were split by only one thousandth of a second: 1:34.480 and 1:34.481.
Rosso’s teammate Fabián Yannantuoni was fourth fastest in 1:34.746, followed by another Toyota driver, Bernardo Llaver who posted 1:34.786 in one of the Toyota Team Argentina cars. Ignacio Montenegro ranked sixth in his Squadra Martino Honda Civic Type R (1:34.802) ahead of the reigning champion Fabricio Pezzini’s PMO Motorsport Lynk & Co 03 (1:35.065).
Track activities will resume Saturday, with two 30-minute Free Practice sessions and the Qualifying, while today will be dedicated to the Media Day.
