Rookie Groszek wins Race 2 and Makeš takes the points lead

Poland’s Bartosz Groszek crowned an impressive maiden weekend in TCR racing with a victory in TCR Eastern Europe’s Race 2 at Poznán. Groszek, the winner of the 2020 TCR Eastern Europe SIM Racing Series, was at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS run by the Horňák-Aditis team and after finishing eighth in yesterday’s Race 1, sat on pole position of the grid determined by a draw that reversed the top-eight of the first race.
Yesterday’s winner Michal Makeš finished second and took the leadership of the standings, nine points clear of Tomáš Pekař who retired just before the end.
At the start, Groszek led from the pole ahead of Łukasz Stolarczyk, Sebastian Steibel and Makeš, while Milovan Vesnić retired at the end of the second lap with a technical issue.
As Groszek was able to create a small gap, Steibel managed to overtake Stolarczyk for P2; during the eighth lap, Makeš made his move on Stolarczyk for P3, they made contact and the Pole driver retired. Makeš later passed Steibel as well to finish second. 
Behind the top three, Szymon Jabłoński cruised to take the flag in fourth position, while the battle for P5 saw Giacomo Ghermandi keeping Pekař at bay for most of the race, until the latter retired with a broken drive shaft during the final lap. 
The next event of TCR Eastern Europe will be in Grobnik on July 23/24.
