Rodrigo Baptista who was runner up in TCR South America’s inaugural season back in 2021, returns to the championship and will drive a Honda Civic Type R FK7 for Squadra Martino.
The 27-year-old Brazilian had raced an Audi RS 3 LMS for Cobra Racing in 2021, scoring three race wins and then he made a one-off appearance in 2023, sharing a Toyota Corolla with his father Adalberto in the endurance race at Termas de Río Hondo. This year he will be at the wheel of the very same car in which Ignacio Montenegro was crowned champion.
“I’m really happy to get back to TCR South America. The championship has grown up significantly since I was vice-champion in 2021 and this is a strong motivation for me. It’s a great challenge: new team, new car, some tracks I don’t know; we’ll be working hard and we’ll be fighting with the aim of being in contention for the title,” said Baptista.
Team Principal Sebastián Martino echoed: “The addition of Rodrigo to the team, with his wide experience in different categories and his past record in TCR South America when he was fighting for the title fosters great expectations for the season!”
