Robert Dahlgren claimed his fourth pole position out of five Qualifying sessions in TCR Scandinavia. The PWR Racing driver and his CUPRA have been fastest in both the free practices at Jyllandsringen and had no problems in setting the fastest laps in Q1 and Q2.
On his maiden appearance in TCR, experienced local hero Casper Elgaard proved his skill has not faded as he drove the Massive Motorsport Honda Civic to set the second fastest lap.
Dahlgren’s rivals in the title fight – Tobias Brink, Andreas Wernersson and Andreas Ahlberg – qualified third, fourth and fifth respectively, losing a few other points from the leader.
Dahlgren set the fastest time in Q1 (1:09.794) on his first lap out. For the remaining first part of the Qualifying his rivals had a close fight for the positions behind him. Eventually Wernersson (1:09.987) moved into second, demoting Elgaard (1:10.069) to third. The others who qualified for Q2 were Brink, Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinski, Ahlberg, Morin and Mattias Andersson, with only three tenths covering the positions from second to eighth.
In Q2, Brink posted a provisional fastest lap of 1:09.870 that was immediately beaten by Dahlgren’s 1:09.786. On his second attempt, Dahlgren improved significantly to 1:09.353 and Elgaard moved into the second position (1:09.852) half-a-second off the pole position time. Hannes Morin ranked sixth and won the pole on the top-six reverse grid for Race 2.
The two races will start tomorrow at 11:40 and 15:45 local time (CET) and will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
