Rob Huff became the fourth different winner in five races of WTCR, beating guest driver Dániel Nagy in today’s second race at the Hungaroring. Huff’s victory was also the maiden one for the Golf GTI in the championship, meaning that Volkswagen joined Hyundai, Audi and Honda as a race-winning brand.
Yvan Muller completed the podium ahead of Gabriele Tarquini – who maintained the leadership in the standings – and Esteban Guerrieri.
Norbert Michelisz, the pole sitter for Race 3, won the fight for sixth against Mehdi Bennani and Benjamin Lessennes. Dávid Szolt Zsabó and Jean-Karl Vernay rounded off the top-ten.
Attila Tassi was stripped of a front row starting position on the reverse grid as he had his 9th fastest lap in Q2 disallowed for crossing the finishing line twice, which promoted Rob Huff on pole alongside Dániel Nagy. Fabrizio Giovanardi (16th) was pushed to the back of the grid for not stopping at the weighing bay.
In the standings, Tarquini leads with 88 points, from Ehrlacher (66); Huff moved up to third (61).
The third race will start at 16:55 local time.
