With entry numbers continuing to grow, Creventic has confirmed that drivers are eligible to race in three separate classes at the inaugural TCR Spa 500 on 3-6 October; PRO, PRO-AM and AM.
All cars must feature a minimum of two drivers and a maximum of five. PRO teams will be permitted to compete with a maximum of two gold or platinum or super license-holding certified drivers. PRO-AM line-ups will feature a maximum of one PRO driver, at least one AM, and a maximum of two other Silver-certified pilots. Finally, entrants for AM teams must all hold Bronze competition licences or have similar performance.
Within the PRO-AM category, all PRO drivers are restricted to a maximum of 10 hours of driving time during either the 23-hour duration or the completed 500 laps, whichever comes first. AM drivers must complete at least three hours behind the wheel combined per entry. The PRO and AM categories do not have driving time restrictions.
Such is the interest so far for the TCR Spa 500 that the driver number might exceed 150, ensuring plenty of on-track action around the 7km Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Something Roy Edland, set to compete for Holmgaard Motorsport, is keen to savour: “With the biggest and longest race for TCR cars ever on one of the greatest circuits in the world, there will be a lot of really good fights and close racing. I want to be there when history is made!”
