The TCR Australia championship resumes after a 45-day break, with the second event of the season taking place at Phillip Island.
The race meeting was originally scheduled on 20/21 February but was postponed by three weeks due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alfa Romeo drivers Jordan Cox (Garry Rogers Motorsport) and Lee Holdsworth (Ashley Seward Motorsport) top the points table after the season opener that saw their Giulietta Veloce cars sharing race victories at Symmons Plains.
Cox who was victorious in races 2 and 3 is the current leader with 126 points, while race 1 winner Holdsworth lies six points behind.
The best of the rest, in third position, is Chaz Mostart with the Melbourne Performance Centre Audi RS 3 LMS, who has a gap of 22 points from Cox.
From Phillip Island the field grows to twenty cars with the addition of two Volkswagen Golf GTI cars run by Melbourne Performance Centre for Chelsea Angelo and Lachlan Mineef.
In today’s free practices, Mostart topped the timesheet in the first session with a lap of 1:36.9001, beating Nathan Morcom (HMO Customer Racing, Hyundai i30 N) and Tony D’Alberto (Wall Racing, Honda Civic Type R) by six and seven tenths respectively.
Holdsworth was fastest in the second session with a lap of 1:37.7023 from Michael Caruso (Garry Rogers Motorsport, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce) and D’Alberto who were slower by nine hundredths and two tenths respectively.
The three races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com: Race 1, Saturday at 14:25 local time (04:25 CET), Race 2 and Race 3, Sunday at 11:40 and 14:25 local time (01:10 and 04:25 CET).
