Marco Pellegrini set pole position for TCR Italy’s first race at Vallelunga, while Massimiliano Mugelli qualified second, the best result for him and the PRS Motorsport Giulietta so far in the season.
Pellegrini began on the right foot, posting a provisional fastest lap of 1:41.433, but then he was temporarily ousted by Enrico Bettera’s 1:41.285 and Mugelli’s 1:41.137.
The Target Competition driver was quick to react and in the final moments of the session clocked a 1:40.298 that was nine tenths ahead of the rest of the field. After that Mugelli, Bettera and Matteo Greco were all able to improve, to rank in second, third and fourth positions respectively.
The current championship leader Salvatore Tavano qualified in sixth position.
