In TCR Italy’s final race meeting at Monza, Marco Pellegrini outpaced the rest of the field in a wet Qualifying session. For the second consecutive event the Target Competition man will start tomorrow’s Race 1 from the pole position with the other Hyundai car of Felice Jelmini alongside on the front row. On his maiden TCR appearance, Jelmini confirmed the good impression done earlier in the morning when he had topped the second Free Practice.
On a wet track and under light rain, Pellegrini posted a provisional fastest lap of 2:13.984 that he immediately improved to 2:13.717. After clocking a 2:14.490 that placed him second, Jelmini too was able to improve to 2:14.041 reinforcing his position.
In the latest stages, Pellegrini managed to go even quicker and stopped the watch at 2:12.211, inflicting a huge 1.8-second gap to Jelmini. Jacopo Guidetti qualified in third position, 2.3 seconds behind the pole sitter and was followed by Enrico Bettera one further tenth adrift.
Salvatore Tavano who had already secured his second consecutive title in the championship ranked fifth ahead of Massimiliano Mugelli.
In the DSG Trophy, Eric Scalvini emerged as the fastest, in ninth position overall, ahead of series newcomer Simone Jody Vullo.
