The Orea Ross Racing-run Hyundai Elantra N has won the 800km race of Monterrey, the season opener of the Copa Notiauto Mexico Endurance Challenge that was also valid as the first ever round of the newly-established TCR Mexico Endurance series.
Four teams took part in the TCR category and emerged as the most competitive in the field. Andrés Orea jr. and Jerónimo Guzmán shared the wheel of the winning Hyundai that dominated throughout the race and eventually completed 236 laps, winning by 10 laps ahead of the RE Motorsport CUPRA Leon Competición of Héctor Escamilla, Oscar Cervantes and Héctor Campos.
The other CUPRA Leon in the race, entered by the Pro Rally team and driven by Gerardo Rejón, Gerardo Rejón jr., Rodrigo Rejón and Julio Rejón ran in second position before dropping to fourth – and third in TCR – during the last part of the race, while the RE Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS lost the third position overall when it went off the track with only 22 laps to go and finished fifth overall.
