Former Formula 1 Argentine driver Norberto Fontana will compete in the TCR South America season at the wheel of a Toyota Corolla GRS for Cobra Racing Team.
During a long career, Fontana clinched titles in the German F3 and the Argentine TC200 and Turismo Carretera, besides making a brief appearance in F1 (1997) and racing in Formula Nippon and Indy Car.
“Fontana is an important name for South American car racing, a driver with a huge talent and a lot of experience. We are confident he can be a protagonist in TCR South America as well,” said team manager Flavio ‘Nonô’ Figueiredo.
“I’m very pleased to add a new category to my racing career. I have been following TCR South America since it was established, and I saw how it keeps on growing. I have high expectations, though I know that I need some apprenticeship times, because I don’t know the car. But this is a great opportunity for me,” Fontana declared.
