Brazilian drivers Augusto Farfus and Sérgio Jimenez have joined forces to found a team that will run two Hyundai Elantra cars in the 2021 TCR South America.
The names of the new team and the drivers will be announced later.
“From the moment I knew that there would be a TCR South America championship I wanted to take part with my own team, because I believe it’s a great opportunity to support motorsport in the region. I have raced in TCR, which makes me be sure that the new championship will be successful, as it has been the case for the category all over the world. And I know the Elantra TCR, because I have been involved in its development. Therefore, I am confident that our team will have a great potential,” said Farfus.
Jiménez, who was crowned the first champion in the Jaguar iPace Trophy and scored race wins in the Brazilian Stock Car championship echoed: “I’m always looking for innovative projects and TCR has always been a category that I followed with a lot of interest because of its technical package and the competition on the track. Augusto and I are friends since our karting years and now we are working to put together a competitive team.”
