TCR Italy’s promoter ACI Sport can be satisfied with the way the series is growing, with a number of entries that will come close to reaching the thirty units for the opening race meeting, at Imola this weekend.
The latest announcement was from SEAT Motorsport Italy that will field two cars: one SEAT León DSG for Massimiliano Gagliano and one new Cupra TCR. The latter will be shared by Touring Car veteran Salvatore Tavano, the 2003 Italian Super Production champion and former Alfa Romeo driver in WTCC, and Matteo Greco, the reigning champion of the SEAT Cupra Cup.
TCR Italy’s event format of the events has undergone a few changes. The two Qualifying sessions, each one determining the grid of each of the weekend’s two races, have been replaced by a single session. This will form the grid for Race 1, while the grid for Race 2 will be based on the final results of Race 1, reversing the order of the first eight drivers classified.
