Their family names are nearly identical, but Francisco Mora and Gustavo Moura will fight each other on the track with the very same goal: clinching the TCR Ibérico title.
Despite his young age, the 23-year-old Mora is the more experienced of the pair. He has been crowned twice champion in TCR Portugal (2016 and 2017) and last year took part in the first half of the TCR Europe series, claiming a brilliant race victory at the Hungaroring.
He will be driving a CUPRA for Veloso Motorsport. “I think I can be considered among the top seeds for the TCR Ibérico title. I know the car well and I am very confident, because I have always done well at Estoril. Let’s hope I start the season in the best way,” he said.
Just like last year, Moura (39) will be at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS. “My ambitions are always the same at the beginning of the season: doing my best, winning races and evolving as a driver. I believe that the TCR Ibérico will be very competitive and that Mora is definitely the most serious contender for the title.”
