Kumho TCR World Tour title contender Mikel Azcona has been hit by a penalty that affected his result in yesterday’s night Race 1 at Eastern Creek.
This morning the Stewards have reviewed some incidents and sporting infringements, imposing a five-second penalty to Azcona for weaving behind the safety car – the same penalty that was handed to Yann Ehrlacher yesterday.
As a consequence, Azcona was demoted from second to third behind Ma Qing Hua.
This also affected the World Tour standings; although Azcona retains the third position he has slipped 9 points behind the pair of Norbert Michelisz and Ehrlacher, two ahead of Rob Huff.
Races 2 and 3 will follow later today at 16:05 and 19:55 local time (06:05 and 09:55 CET), with live streaming on tcr-series.tv and YouTube.
