After setting pole position in the TCR Germany opening at Oschersleben, Mike Halder repeated himself at Most. The Team Honda ADAC Sachsen driver posted the fastest lap of 1:40.731 in today’s Qualifying on the Czech racetrack.
Halder’s Honda Civic had been seventh fastest in Q1 that was topped by Mike Hesse’s Audi RS3 LMS (1:41.035) and saw the fastest 18 cars covered by eight tenths.
In Q2 Halder jumped on top of the timesheet with a first lap of 1:41.046, beating Antti Buri’s 1:41.197, then improved further to 1:40.731. Buri’s last effort of 1:41.042 was only good enough to grant the Finn’s Audi the second position on the grid for tomorrow’s Race 1. The Audi cars of Hesse (1:41.170) and Simon Reicher (1:41.187) will start from the second row, followed by Harald Proczyk’s Opel (1:41.241) and Luca Engstler’s VW Golf (1:41.254). Local hero Petr Fulín qualified his Cupra in seventh position (1:41.434) ahead of the sister car driven by the impressive Michelle Halder (1:41.533).
Théo Coicaud (VW) ranked tenth and won pole position on the reverse grid for Race 2, with Oliver Holdener (Cupra) alongside him.
The Q1 part of Qualifying was so close that some of the top drivers did not make the cut, including Niels Langeveld (13th), Dominik Fugel (15th), Florian Thoma (18th) and Benjamin Leuchter (20th).
Race 1 will start Saturday at 11:50 (live streaming at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv).
