Michael McCann qualified his Audi RS 3 LMS on pole position for the TC America’s Race 1 at Watkins Glen. McCann posted the fastest lap halfway through the 15-minute Qualifying just before the session was red-flagged.
Mason Filippi was the first to break the 1:58 wall as he was clocked at 1:57.791, but a couple of minutes later McCann completed a lap in 1:57.134 and jumped on top of the time sheet, while James Walker advanced to third (1:58.062) ahead of Michael Hurczyn (1:58.085).
The red flag was waved when a TCA car crashed heavily into the barriers and did not resume. And so McCann will start from the pole position with Filippi alongside him, while Walker and championship leader Hurczyn will share the second row of the grid, with Nate Vincent and Victor González in third.
Once again the fastest of the DSG class was Bryan Putt, who qualified in seventh position overall.
Race 1 is scheduled to go underway at 16:55 local time (22:55 CET); live streaming on www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
