Nürburgring specialist Mathilda Racing returned to TCR class victory on the Nordschleife in the eighth round of the VLN, the 50. ADAC Barbarossapreis.
The Cupra driven by Andreas Gülden and Heiko Hammel completed 26 laps in the four-hour race and finished 23rd overall out of the 142 starters and beat by four minutes the Lubner Motorsport Opel Astra that regular drivers Thomas Jäger and Thorsten Wolter shared with TCR Germany’s lady Jasmin Preisig. The Opel was classified 30th overall.
The podium was completed by the FEV Racing Cupra of Benedikt Gentgen and Martin Pischinger that had set pole position on the wet track and finished the race one lap behind the class winners.
The LADA Vesta run by Lubner Motorsport made its first appearance in a VLN race in the hands of Lukas Thiele and Andrej Sidorenko; the Russian car retired after two hours and 34 minutes.
The ninth and final round of the series – the 43. DMV Müsterlandpokal – will take place on October 20.
