Philip Morin scored his first win in TCR Scandinavia at Anderstorp, leading a PWR Racing Cupra cars 1-2-3 finish, with Daniel Haglöf and Robert Dahlgren completing the podium.
On a track that was drying after a shower, Johan Kristoffersson started well from pole position in his Volkswagen Golf GTI, but he was passed by Haglöf and Morin during the opening lap. Dahlgren had dropped to sixth behind the Golf cars of Fredrik Ekblom and Andreas Wernersson; the reigning champion overtook Wernersson on lap two and Ekblom on lap three, climbing back to fourth.
Soon afterwards, Morin overtook Haglöf for the lead and then Dahlgren made it a 1-2-3 for the PWR Racing after passing Kristoffersson on lap five.
Behind the leading quartet, Ekblom, Wernersson and Mattias Andersson’s Honda Civic were involved in a thrilling battle for fifth.
The safety car was deployed after Nicklas Oscarsson’s Volkswagen went off the track and the race resumed with four laps to go.
Ekblom tried to overtake Kristoffersson for fourth, but ran wide; Andersson took the opportunity to move up to fifth and then overtook Kristoffersson to finish fourth.
The standings are topped by the PWR Racing’s trio; Haglöf leads with 61 points, followed by Dahlgren (55) and Morin (48); Kristoffersson and Wernersson rank fourth and fifth, 16 and 19 points behind the leader.
The second race is scheduled for 15:15 CET; it will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
