Mikhail Grachev converted the pole position on the reverse grid into a victory in the second TCR Russia race at Kazan. This was the first ever win for the LADA Sport driver in the championship.
Once again, Dmitry Bragin proved to be the most consistent of the pack as he finished in third position and increased his leadership in the standings over his main competitors: Aleksey Dudukalo who was classified 12th after starting from the back of the grid, and Kirill Ladygin who was dropped out of the points after serving a drive-through for an incident with Anton Badoev. Klim Gavrilov has now moved into the second position, 15 points behind Bragin.
At the start, Grachev kept Ivan Lukashevich at bay, but there was drama at the back of the grid as both Anton Nemkin and Andrej Abaluev stalled and were hit, respectively by Albert Gilfanov and Timur Shigabutdinov. The safety car was deployed to recover the wrecked cars.
The race restarted in lap 5, with Grachev, Lukashevich, Bragin, Irek Minnakhmetov, Badoev, Pavel Kalmanovich and Gavrilov running in the top spots. Kalmanovich took fourth and Gavrilov sixth as they sandwiched Minnakhmetov. The top three pulled away, while there was an intense fight for the fourth position.
Eventually Andrej Maslennikov emerged in fifth place followed by Ivan Chubarov, while Gavrilov dropped to 7th after making contact with Minnakhmetov who retired.
Grachev won over Lukashevich and Bragin, with Kalmanovich placed fourth ahead of Maslennikov, Chubarov, Gavrilov and Badoev.
