Carol Wittke dominated the Qualifying for TCR Eastern Europe’s season finale in Brno. The Fullinrace Academy’s German driver started the session with amazing elan; after being the fastest in the morning’s Free Practice he was the first to hit the track, clocking a provisional fastest lap of 2:13.358. He was demoted by the top of the timesheet only for a short time when Polish driver Bartosz Groszek posted a 1:13.056 at the wheel of his Audi RS 3 LMS.
However, Wittke was able to answer, being the first to complete a lap in less than 2 minutes and 13 seconds; he set a 2:12.222 halfway through the session that none of his competitors could beat. Only Groszek and Petr Čížek were clocked in the 2:12s; Groszek’s 2:12.948 was worth the third position on the grid for tomorrow’s Race 1, while Čížek clocked a 2:12.884 just before the end of the session to complete a brilliant 1-2 for Fullinrace Academy on the team’s home ground.
As far as the title fight is concerned, the current leader Michal Makeš (2:13.384) qualified in P4 ahead of Giacomo Ghermandi (2:13.579), while his rival Tomáš Pekař will start Race 1 from the sixth place having posted a time of 2:13.612.
Hungary’s Gergő Báldi was the best of the newcomers, the former SIM racer qualified eighth in a M1RA Hyundai i30 N (1:13.992), while Czech Rally champion Petr Semerád will be 12th on the grid ahead of Fraňo Dubreta from Montenegro.
The first race is scheduled to take place Saturday at 12:45 (CEST), with live streaming on www.tcr-series.tv.
