Ma Qing Hua claims Alfa Romeo's first win in China

Freely Racing’s Ma Qing Hua gave the Romeo Ferraris-built Alfa Romeo Giulietta its first victory in TCR China as he won the first race in the championship finale at Guangdong International Circuit. The TeamWork Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI of Sunny Wong, that had started from the pole position, suffered from a transmission failure, meaning that Wong and his co-driver Alex Hui failed to secure the title after Race 1. 
Ma took the lead after the start, overtaking Wong at Turn 1; the latter was also passed by Li Lin in the Leo Racing Golf GTI and dropped to third.
On lap four, Wong’s Volkswagen stopped on the track, then limped to the pits where the team crew worked to fix the gearbox so that he can finish the race and clinch the title. 
One lap later Falco Lau in the Champ X T.A. Motorsport Audi RS3 LMS retired with a technical problem. 
Ma cruised to victory with a 16-second margin over Li Lin; Tian Li Ying completed the podium with the HE Racing Golf GTI with Li Ke Ling fourth in yet another Golf. Newcomer Shi Nai Jie’s TeamWork Motorsport Audi was classified fifth, two laps from the winner, while Wong crossed the line in sixth place, four laps down. This meant he did not cover the 75% of the race distance to be classified and so him and Hui have to wait until Race 2 in order to take the title.
