Ivan Lukashevich scored his second win of the season in TCR Russia’s Race 1 at Smolensk Ring and so moved to second in the standings, 27 points behind Kirill Ladygin.
The LUKOIL Racing Team’s driver started from the pole and took the lead from Grigory Burlutskyi who never lost contact but was never close enough to try an overtaking move, and eventually had to settle in second position.
Mikhail Mityaev completed the podium ahead of his LADA Sport Rosneft teammate Ladygin.
The race was mostly processional, and the only interesting battle was for P5 between the reigning champion Dmitry Bragin and Lukashevich’s teammate Andrej Maslennikov. Behind this pair, Aleksey Dudukalo was waiting for them to make a mistake that never happened. The situation changed at the beginning of the last lap, when Maslennikov was able to dive inside Bragin into Turn 1 and passed him to finish fifth.
Race 2 is due to start at 17:55 local time (16:55 CEST) with Bargin and Pavel Kalmanovich sharing the front row of the reversed grid; live streaming at www.tcr-series.com.
