Lewis Kent was crowned TCR UK champion for the second consecutive year after he finished sixth in the third race of the season finale at Donington Park. The victory went to Bruce Winfield who survived a multiple collision in lap 7 that eliminated Race 2 winner Jac Constable and title contender Bradley Kent.
The race started at dusk, with the cars’ headlights on, following delays in the event’s schedule. Alex Morgan was on pole, but at the start he swerved to the right and pulled up with a technical issue. Winfield took the lead from Constable, Max Hart and Dan Kirby, however Hart immediately dropped at the back of the field with what appeared to be an oil leak.
Up front, Winfield was trying his best to keep Constable at bay, while they were chased by a train of four: Andy Wilmot, Kirby, Isaac Smith and Bradley Kent. In lap 4, Kent passed Smith for P5 and two laps later Kirby for P4. His brother Lewis had recovered from 16th on the grid to 11th and was fighting with Jack Depper and Darelle Wilson who were running ninth and tenth.
In lap 7, Constable tried to overtake Winfield, but their cars clashed; behind them Wilmot and Bradley Kent braked in avoidance and collided. Wilmot and Constable ended their race in the gravel, while Kent limped to the pits and retired.
Winfield kept on leading and pulled away; behind him Kirby was closely followed by Hugo Cook, while Lewis Kent had advanced to seventh, still behind Wilson, but ahead of Depper.
Winfield scored his second win of the season, while Kirby managed to finish second, keeping Cook and William Butler at bay during the final lap. Wilson was classified fifth ahead of Lewis Kent who clinched the title.
The victory meant that Winfield moved into the second position in the standings, with Kirby third and Hart fourth, while Bradley Kent slipped down to fifth.
