The Max Kruse Racing accomplished its mission to make up from the disappointment of the VLN’s fifth round, when both the team’s Volkswagen Golf GTI cars retired because of technical failures.
Benjamin Leuchter and Andreas Gülden claimed their second victory of the season in the series’ sixth round, the 4-hour 42. RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen, in which they completed 23 laps of the Nordschleife to finish in the 19th position overall.
For the whole race they were chased by the Møller Bild Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS shared by Håkon Schjærin, Atle Gulbrandsen and Kenneth Østvold; the Norwegian team had posted the class’ fastest lap in Qualifying and crossed the finishing line 21st overall a bit more than four minutes behind the winners and two-minutes-forty ahead of the second Max Kruse Racing Golf GTI driven by Loris Prattes and Jasmin Preisig that completed the podium.
The other two cars in the TCR class were classified one lap down: the Mathilda Racing CUPRA of Matthias Wasel and Fredric Yerly fourth, despite a gear shifting problem, and the Lubner Motorsport Opel Astra of Roger Vögeli and Ilkka Kariste fifth.
The VLN will resume with round 7 on September 28th.
