Andrea Larini has won the second race of the TCR Italy at Le Castellet. A race that has never actually started, with the field circulating for ten minutes behind the safety car on a flooded track, under a pouring rain and with a poor visibility.
Only two laps were completed before the red flag was waved as the weather conditions were getting even worse. However, the Race Director considered that the 30% of the race distance (25 minutes) had been completed and half points were awarded.
Larini (Pit Lane Competizioni Cupra) who had started on pole position on the reverse grid was declared the winner, with Federico Paolino (BRC Racing Hyundai) second and José Rodriguez (Target Competition Honda) third.
Race 1 winner Andrea Baldan (Pit Lane Competizioni Hyundai) was classified eighth and the current championship leader Luigi Ferrara (V-Action Racing Alfa Romeo Giulietta) 16th. In spite of this, Ferrara remained on top of the standings with 41 points, followed by the pairing of Salvatore Tavano-Matteo Greco (37.5), Larini (32) and Baldan (31).
The next event of TCR Italy will take place at Misano on June 15th / 17th.
