Langeveld completes the Audi Sport line up in WTCR
Audi Sport customer racing tackles WTCR’s second season with a strong quartet having added Niels Langeveld to Gordon Shedden, Jean-Karl Vernay and Frédéric Vervisch. They will all be at the wheel of Audi RS 3 LMS cars.
“We’ve decided to include a successful driver from our customer racing programme in the Audi Sport squad,” explained Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. “Niels Langeveld has performed consistently well in the ADAC TCR Germany over the last two years and has impressed us.”
The 30-year-old Dutchman concluded the 2017 season in fifth place and last year he scored two race victories for the Racing One team to be classified third in the Drivers’ Championship. Langeveld will team up with Vervisch in the Comtoyou Team Audi Sport, while the Leopard Racing Team Audi Sport will remain unchanged with Shedden and Vernay.
All the three of them have scored race victories in the 2018 WTCR: Vernay had four and finished fifth in the standings, while Shedden and Vervisch had one each and were classified ninth and 13th respectively. The Frenchman claimed another three victories in TCR Europe on his way to finish second in the points.
