Trial and enduro legend Laia Sanz will take part in the 24H Barcelona, fourth round of the 24H TCE European Series, with a Cupra TCR DSG run by Monlau Competición.
The Spanish girl – who has ben crowned 18 times woman world champion, 13 in trial and five in enduro – will share driving duties with experienced Touring Car driver and Cupra Racing tester Jordi Gené, Francesc Gutierrez and Alba Cano Ramírez, the reigning champion in the 24H TCE Series’ TCR Class.
Sanz is not new to Touring Car competitions as she took part occasionally in the SEAT León Supercópa and twice in the 24H Barcelona: in 2011 she won the class in a Renault Clio and last year she finished 15th in the TCR class with a SEAT León.
The TCR class with 16 entries spearheads the 29-car field; among them the Hyundai i30 N of Team Hyundai Denmark, two Peugeot 308 Racing Cup cars of Team Altran Peugeot, five Audi RS3 LMS cars and six other SEAT/Cupra cars.
As far as the fight for the 2018 title is concerned, the NKPP Racing by Bas Koeten Racing Cupra DSG of Bessem-Hilders-Sorensen-Jepsen defends a four-point lead from the Red Camel-Jordans.nl SEAT León DSG of Breukers-Krant-Littig-de Heus. A further six points adrift lies the Kawasaki Racing by Bas Koeten Racing Cupra DSG of Bölting-Littman-JL Navarro-PA Navarro.
