Johan Kristoffersson drove his KMS Volkswagen Golf GTI to an outstanding victory under a pouring rain in TCR Scandinavia’s Race 1 on the Norwegian track of Rudskogen.
On top of this, because PWR Racing’s Robert Dahlgren finished second, the win gave the leader in the championship standings back to Kristoffersson, four points clear of the reigning champion.
Daniel Haglöf made a poor start from pole position and found himself third, behind Dahlgren and Kristoffersson. Fredrik Ekblom, Andreas Wernersson and Philip Morin followed in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
On lap 3, Kristoffersson attempted an overtaking manoeuvre on Dahglren, their cars clashed and Haglöf benefited from the situation to steal second from Kristoffersson.
However, Kristoffersson retook second position on lap 5 and began to close in on Dahlgren. Behind the leading trio, Wernersson overtook Ekblom for fourth and the latter was chased by Morin and Hugo Nerman.
The fight between Dahlgren and Kristoffersson for the lead was red hot, as they ran abreast in all the turns and made contact several times. After four laps of rejected attempts, Kristoffersson managed to take the lead on lap 10 and pulled away to score his second victory of the season. Dahlgren and Haglöf retained the second and third positions, while their teammate Morin won the battle for fourth, beating Nerman, Wernersson and Ekblom.
The second race will start at 15:20 CET, with Mattias Andersson and Wernersson on the front row; live streaming at www.tcr-series.tv.
