Klim Gavrilov scores his second win at Moscow Raceway

Klim Gavrilov has taken his second win of the 2020 TCR Russia championship in the second race at the Moscow Raceway, making a penultimate-lap pass on early race leader Andrej Radoshnov to deprive the Audi driver of victory.
Radoshnov started from pole position on the reversed grid in his Carville Racing Audi RS 3 LMS and led the way ahead of Aleksei Dudukalo’s LUKOIL Racing Audi, while Gavrilov had a slow start from fourth and dropped behind the Hyundai of Ivan Lukaschevich.
Gavrilov quickly regained the position on the opening lap, with Andrej Maslennikov’s Hyundai also passing Lukaschevich, while Radoshnov held the lead up front.
Behind this group there was a thrilling battle for fifth, with reigning champion Dmitry Bragin in his Hyundai battling the LADA Vesta of Mikhail Mityaev swapping positions, with Bragin often quicker through the final corner, while Mityaev was able to take the place back at Turn 1, but it eventually went Bragin’s way.
On lap eight, the battle up front heated up, as Gavrilov dived down the inside of Dudukalo and took second, with the LUKOIL Racing Team driver developing a puncture a lap later and was forced to retire, which promoted his teammate Maslennikov to third.
On lap 15, the penultimate lap, Gavrilov then attacked Radoshnov and made a clean move for the lead. Radoshnov tried to fight back at the final corner, but in doing so lost speed through the final corner and allowed Maslennikov up the inside.
Gavrilov held on to win the race ahead of Maslennikov and Radoshnov, with Lukaschevich fourth ahead of Bragin.
Yesterday’s race winner Kirill Ladygin struggled for pace from the reversed grid and could only manage ninth in the final order. However, he retained the leadership in the standings, 29 points clear of Gavrilov, while Mityaev and Bragin are equal, three further points adrift.
The next round of the championship takes place at the Smolensk Ring on September 5th-6th.
