Jessica Hawkins announces TCR UK campaign

Area Motorsport will run a CUPRA for the 27-year-old Jessica Hawkins in the 2022 TCR UK, which means that she becomes the first female driver to enter the series since Jessica Bäckman in 2018.

Hawkins will be partnered by teammate Jamie Tonks; she finished as runner-up in the 2017 MINI Challenge, her only full-season entry so far, besides appearances in other championships. She is also well-known as a stunt driver in movies such as ‘Fast and Furious’ and the James Bond film ‘No Time To Die’.

“This is such an awesome moment for me,” said Jessica. “I’ve been trying to make a high-level Touring Car championship campaign come together for many years. I’m super excited to be doing it in what has quickly proved itself to be a fantastic formula in TCR UK. I’m aiming high, obviously, but there’s some serious talent on the grid this year, so I’m going to work my socks off to do everyone proud.”
