TCR Eastern Europe champions Hyundai Janík Motorsport, which secured both the drivers’ and teams’ championships last year, will defend the titles with a trio of Hyundai Elantra N cars. The team has confirmed the reigning champion Maťo Homola and third-place finisher Adam Kout who will be joined by Czech rookie Jiří Zbožínek.
“Being the champion, I can’t aim for anything less than winning the title again. However, we know the competition is strong and we must continue to work hard, but I believe that we have everything it takes to make the new season very successful again,” Homola said.
Kout added: “I’m sure competition will be harder, and the field will expand, making for a thrilling season. I aim for improving on last year’s third place in the drivers’ standings and helping defend our position as the top team.”
Zbožínek, a 20-year-old driver who comes from the Clio Cup, said: “I’m very much looking forward to my first season in the TCR Eastern Europe series. I expect to face a strong competition, but I’m glad to be in a top team such as Janík Motorsport.”
Team owner Václav Janík commented: “This will be our third season in TCR Eastern Europe and it’s going to be very difficult to defend our titles. However, we will try our best, we are glad that Maťo and Adam are staying with us, and we are happy to welcome Jiří who will be learning and gaining experience.”
