For the first time TCR Denmark races in the popular Classic Race Aarhus event that takes place this weekend on the street circuit that runs around the Mindeparken in the South East part of the city along the coast of the Northern Sea's Samsø Bælt strait that splits the Jutland peninsula from Zealand island.
After the first four events of the season, the title fight is wide open, with the reigning champion Kasper H. Jensen and his Massive Motorsport Honda Civic leading the standings on 203 points, three more than Casper Elgaard (Brian Madsen Motorsport Peugeot 308). LM Motorsport's Nicolai Sylvest won two races out of three in Jyllandsringen's previous round with his CUPRA Leon Competición and moved into third, 30 points from the leader and 11 ahead of Michael Markussen (Markussen Motorsport Peugeot 308).
Sylvest's teammate Jan Magnussen, who had dominated the first two events of the series with five wins from six races has dropped to fifth, 56 points behind Jensen. Magnussen did not score in Copenhagen after crashing in the first race and then missed the Jyllandsringen due to the clash with the Le Mans 24-hour. LM Motorsport worked hard to rebuild his CUPRA and finally made a shake down last Friday at Jyllandsringen to make sure that everything was working.
Team manager Lars Mogensen explained: "It was a long battle to get the parts, because we were not the only ones needing something for a CUPRA TCR here in Europe. But finally everything was delivered ten days ago on well over four pallets... and that in itself says a bit about how much effort has been made to get the car ready."
