Jan Magnussen has put his championship back on track on his TCR Denmark series return, setting a stunning lap in Qualifying in his LM Racing-run CUPRA Leon Competición.
The Danish racing legend outqualified his LM Racing teammate Nicolai Sylvest by over seven-tenths of a second in the single-part qualifying session around the Aarhus street circuit.
Magnussen was the early championship leader but has slipped to fifth in the standings after a crash at the Copenhagen street race, followed by absence last time out at Jyllandsringen due to his 24 Hours of Le Mans commitments.
New championship leader and reigning champion Kasper H. Jensen was third fastest in his Massive Motorsport Honda Civic Type R TCR, just a tenth faster than his closest title rival, Casper Elgaard, competing in a Brian Madsen Sport-run Peugeot 308.
Michael Markussen completed the top five in his Peugeot, albeit 1.6 seconds off of Magnussen’s pace.
The first race is scheduled to get underway later today at 17:05 CEST.
