Jacopo Guidetti will race in the 2020 TCR Europe Series at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS run by the Élite Motorsport team.
In his maiden Touring Car season, Guidetti emerged as one of the most promising young drivers in Italy. The 17-year-old battled for top positions in the TCR Italy championship, claiming five podium results and finishing sixth overall and third in the Under 25 Trophy in the final standings; he also won the Coppa Italia Turismo title, scoring five race wins.
“It was an important step for my career, in a very competitive championship and resulted in an exciting season; especially because I had no experience with Touring Cars, having only raced in karting and Formula Renault,” explained Guidetti who had won the 2016 ROK Cup International Final and the 2018 Italian Formula X title.
“I enjoy TCR competition. The car is fun to drive, because you can exaggerate throwing it into the corners and jumping over the kerbs. It suits my driving style more than a single-seater,” Guidetti said, adding: “Racing in TCR Europe next year will be another big leap. My goal is using the first part of the season to learn from my competitors, because there will be some of the best and most experienced Touring Car drivers in the field. Then, I hope to be able to settle within the top-ten during the final races.”
The Élite Motorsport team plans to run a second Audi car in some selected round during the season.
