TCR Europe regulars Jack Young and Franco Girolami will take part in this weekend’s TCR Italy’s second event at Misano World Circuit.
Young and Girolami will race two Honda Civic Type R cars entered by MM Motorsport.
Another TCR Europe driver, Evegenii Leonov, returns to the Italian championship with his Volcano Motorsport CUPRA Leon Competición after having already raced in the series’ opening event at Monza.
A record-field of 28 cars will hit the track at Misano, with the reigning champion Salvatore Tavano already on top of the standings, eager to clinch a fourth consecutive title. Tavano won both races at Monza in his Scuderia del Girasole-run CUPRA Leon Competición, beating twice last year’s vice-champion Eric Brigliadori and his BF Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS. Eight points is the gap in the standings between Tavano and Brigliadori.
Other drivers who are aiming for entering the battle for the title and showed their potential at Monza are Kevin Ceccon with a Hyundai i30 N run by Aggressive Team Italia, the reigning ADAC TCR Germany champion Antti Buri, also in a Hyundai but run by Target Competition and his teammate Nicola Baldan, Macedonia’s start Igor Stefanovski (AKK Stefanovski, Hyundai i30 N) and Jonathan Giacon (Tecnodom Sport, Honda Civic Type R).
The two races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com; Race 1, Saturday at 13:45 and Race 2 Sunday at 9:40 (local times, CEST).
