The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge ends Friday at Sebring International Raceway with a 2-hour race that will crown the champions in the TCR class.
The battle for the title is a family affair between two of the Bryan Herta Autosport teams at the wheel of Hyundai Veloster N cars. Thanks to their victory in the previous event at Laguna Seca, Gabby Chaves and Ryan Norman have retaken the leadership in the standings, but their advantage is of only two points over Mason Filippi and Michael Lewis.
With 35 points for grasp, other teams are mathematically still in contention, such as Jonathan Morley-Gavin Ernstone (Road Shagger Racing, Audi RS 3 LMS) and Mark Wilkins-Harry Gottsacker in a third BHA Hyundai who are 12 and 14 points behind the leaders respectively. However, the scoring system that awards points to all the cars, even when they are not classified, and the field of twelve cars, means that the actual gap between the winners and the 12th-classified team will be of 19 points only.
