Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing has revealed the latest version of the i30 N TCR, which carries styling cues from the newest iteration of the car’s road-going counterpart.
The update to the i30 N TCR maintains the close links between the Customer Racing department’s first circuit racing project and the model it is based upon. This connection between race and road cars, especially Hyundai’s high-performance N range, has long been a critical part of Hyundai Motorsport’s projects.
As part of enhancements that improve performance and agility the road car sports a re-profiled front bumper and LED headlights. These are reflected in the changes to the front of the Touring Car. The new design gives the front of the i30 N TCR a more angular appearance, with the lights providing a striking on-track presence.
The winning formula of a well-balanced chassis, powerful 2-litre turbocharged engine and six-speed paddle-shift operated sequential gearbox remains unchanged with the new update.
Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing department Operations Leader Andrew Johns said: “Forging strong links between our motorsport projects and the road-going Hyundai range has been a vital part of the Customer Racing departments since the beginning. When the latest updates to the i30 N were revealed it was important that we were able to match these changes with the i30 N TCR. The new front bodywork and lights are outward evidence of the tireless work performed by our support engineers in continually learning about and developing the car where they can. Results show it has always been a very strong contender in the TCR category. However, we never take the successes or our customers for granted, so are constantly working to keep them at the front of their championships.”
