The FCP Euro pair of Michael Hurzcyn and Nate Vincent struck back at Mason Filippi and finished 1-2 in the TC America second race at Portland International Raceway.
Hurczyn made good use of the pole and led the field into Turn 1; he was followed by Vincent, Filippi and Michael McCann who pipped James Walker and moved into fourth.
The five leaders pulled away all together until lap 8, when the safety car was deployed to recover a car of the TCA class that had gone head on into the tyre wall. After a couple of laps the red flag was waved and the race suspended for repairing the barriers.
The restart was given when only seven minutes were left on the clock, but it was a false start as the green flag was not show. This meant another lap lost and when the actual racing resumed, a little more than four minutes were left.
Walker tried to play the same trick McCann had done at the start of the race, but the latter was not caught by surprise and retained the fourth position. Hurczyn and Vincent finished 1-2 for FCP Euro, while Filippi beat McCann for third by only one tenth.
In the DSG Cup, Bryan Putt encored his Race 1 win with a margin of seven tenths over Christian Cole.
Hurczyn’s victory meant that he further increased his advantage in the standings to 40 points over Vincent and 60 over Filippi.
TC America will visit Watkins Glen for Rounds 11 and 12 on August 31st and September 1st.
