HMO Customer Racing team will run two cars in the 2023 TCR Australia. Josh Buchan who was classified third in last year’s championship will return at the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra N, while 2022 Rookie of the Year winner Bailey Sweeny will once again the squad’s successful Hyundai i30 N.
“Motorsport has been part of Hyundai N’s DNA even before we launched an N road car. From 2014 in the World Rally Championship, then from 2018 in world TCR, we have been competing and winning at the highest levels,” said Ted Lee, Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer. “Our new project with HMO and Josh Buchan in Australia is an exciting new chapter in our high-performance story.”
“There is no doubt we have lifted the bar in terms of presentation this year, and now it is up to me and the team to elevate the Hyundai Elantra N to the position it deserves – at the front of the pack,” said Buchan who is excited by the prospect of competing in two TCR World Tour events locally in 2023. “It has always been a dream of mine to compete in a world championship, which will be fulfilled this year with two rounds of the new TCR World Tour in Australia. It will be very special to race against the world’s best touring car drivers on our home turf. And hopefully we can do enough throughout the year to be among the Top 30 in the World Rankings and be invited to the World Tour Final at the end of the season.”
