For once the jurors who choose the nominees for the Hawkers Fan Award decided to bypass the drivers and place the mechanics in the spotlight.
The progress of the races in Macau were such that none of the drivers was actually in a position to shine enough to deserve the nominations, which shifted the focus onto those men who work in the background to ensure that the show can go on.
In representation of all the crews of all the teams of the TCR International Races, two men have been picked: Tom Evans, the chief mechanic of James Nash’s car at Craft-Bamboo and Arnaud Libois, the chief mechanic of Stefano Comini’s car at Leopard Racing.
If their drivers were fighting for the title until the ultimate race it was also because Tom and Arnaud, and their respective crews, put them in the positions to do so.
The motivations for their nominations are:
Tom Evans – for overseeing the repair of the car that enabled Nash to start Race 2
Arnaud Libois – for consistently delivering a car that took Comini to his second title
