Haglöf heads Morin in a PWR Racing 1-2 at Karlskoga

The PWR Racing team claimed an emphatic 1-2 in the TCR Scandinavia Race 1 at Karlskoga after pole-sitter Philip Morin led for the first half of the race until his teammate Daniel Haglöf dived up the inside on lap 9; the pair then holding those positions until the end of the 17 lap race. They were also the only drivers to break the 1:07 lap time barrier, with Haglöf setting the race’s quickest lap with a 1:06.947.
Nearly all of the action happened during the first half of the race, with Kristoffersson Motorsport’s Johan Kristoffersson passing the reigning champion Robert Dahlgen for third place early on the opening lap and the Lestrup Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI of Andreas Wernersson also passing Dahlgren’s Cupra for fourth position two laps later. Behind the top five, the Audi RS 3 LMS of Tobias Brink finished sixth.
The Honda of Mattias Andersson dropped three places on lap 2, allowing Fredrik Ekblom, Oliver Söderström and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinksy to move up into 7^th, 8^th and 9^th places respectively. When Åhlin-Kottulinsky was forced to pit on lap 7 with a technical issue, Micke Ohlsson’s Audi passed the unlucky Andersson for 9^th place.
On the penultimate lap, Kristoffersson was unable to capitalize on an opportunity to pass Morin going into Turn 1, so the Volkswagen driver had to settle for third place.
Dahlgren still leads the Drivers’ championship, but Haglöf’s win means the gap between the pair is now down to 18 points.
Race 2 is scheduled for 15.20 CET this afternoon, with Åhlin-Kottulinksy’s Cupra on pole.
