Touring Car veteran Jordi Gené and his 15-year-old son Eric claimed an outstanding victory in their first race together. They shared a CUPRA Leon Competición run by Monlau Competición in the last round of the Campeonato de España Resistencia at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and won the TCR class in the 2-hour race, finishing seventh overall behind six GT cars.
This was Eric Gené’s maiden car race after he made himself a reputation in karting; Eric took the start and moved into the lead of the Touring Car category passing the experienced José Manuel de los Milagros’ BMW M2; then he handed the car to his father for the second half of the race.
Second in the class came the Portuguese team of Jorge Pereira Silva and Pedro Pereira Silva in a Veloso Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS who secured the TCR title ahead of Vicente Dasi who drove a CUPRA Leon Competición for PCR Sport.
