Every registered team in the TCR class of the Nürburgring Lanstrecken Series will receive a free race tyre from Goodyear at the start of each event.
This viable solution was developed following the requests from the teams by the promoter company, VLN VV GmbH & Co. KG in cooperation with Alexander Kühn, Motorsport Product Manager Goodyear Dunlop Tires Germany GmbH.
To receive the free tyre, the team needs to take part in the Qualifying, then, if it makes it to the end of the race, an additional tyre will be supplied. Each team can thus theoretically receive 18 free tyres per season. The costs of the second free tyre will be borne by the VLN VV. Therefore the teams won’t have any higher tyre costs than the competitors of the SP3T class and their savings may be up to €5,670 per car.
"I would like to thank Alex Kühn. Goodyear is investing a considerable additional amount of money to help strengthening our TCR class. Assuming an average of seven to eight starters, the number of free tyres coming from Goodyear has doubled. And we hope this will attract a larger number of participants,” said Christian Stephani, managing director of VLN VV GmbH & Co. KG.
