Hayden Paddon, former WRC driver, will race a Hyundai i30 N car in TCR New Zealand’s sole event at Highlands Motorsport Park.
“It was a bit unexpected. We hadn’t planned to compete in TCR this season. However, with a one round title decider at our home racetrack, it makes sense to be on the grid,” said Paddon who has won several New Zealand Rally Championship’s titles.
The car that Paddon has already driven in selected rounds of the New Zealander endurance series will be run by the Paddon Rallysport Group team.
“Enduros are quite different, as they are more about strategy and pacing yourself. In the sprint races I expect everyone will be quite even on performance. That will provide some great racing. Circuit racing is still new to me but at the end of the day, what is similar to rallying is that we are all trying to make the car go fast.”
